Dartmoor Garden

The clients of this delightful farmhouse nestling on the edge of Dartmoor wanted a traditional cottage garden border with iconic English flowers such as Peonies, Nepeta, Geraniums, Roses and Campanula which could be admired from the kitchen window or cut and brought into the house. Assorted shrubs and small trees were planted to add structure and height throughout the season .

The garden had to accommodate two energetic young children.

To link the house to the garden and parking area a sinuous path was laid to the side which left a good area of lawn to one side and a substantial herbaceous border to the other.

The plants chosen had to be tough to cope with the prevailing winds off the moor and be in keeping with the surroundings. The photographs show the garden 3 months after planting and the magnificent sculpture was crafted by the owner.
